The Annual Dinner & Annual General Meeting

The Annual Dinner is an opportunity for OAC members and their guests to catch up with fellow alumni, old friends and new members of the Club during a 3-course formal dinner in the Department for Continuing Education at Rewley House in Central Oxford. The occasion also allows us to hold our Annual General Meeting, at which new members and Officers are nominated, and any issues affecting the Club are discussed. The evening is therefore a good opportunity not only to meet some like-minded climbers from across different generations, but also to raise any concerns or suggestions about what you'd like from the Oxford Alpine Club.

The 2017 Dinner and AGM will take place at Rewley House in Oxford on Saturday 18th March.

Getting There

The dinner is held at the Department for Continuing Education, which is located in Rewley House, 1 Wellington Square, Oxford OX1 2JA

Accommodation

Superbly convenient, excellent-value accommodation is available at Rewley House for guests travelling from further-afield. See their website for more details. Alternatively, some of our Oxford-based members may be able to provide spare beds or floor space for those who want a cheaper alternative and don't mind taking their chances on the quality of accommodation! If you would like us to help organise accommodation for you then please let us know by email, or indicate on the online reservation form.

Timings

The general format of the evening will be as follows: ALL TIMINGS TBC

1730 - Cocktails in the Duke of Cambridge, Little Clarendon Street
1830 - Pre-Dinner Drinks at Rewley House
1845 - The AGM. Non-members will be asked to remain in the bar during this short meeting of the members.
1915 - Dinner

Guest Policy

OAC members are entitled to bring one non-member guest to the dinner (preferably they will have an interest in mountaineering!). Please note that guests will not be invited to attend the AGM, and will be asked to remain in the bar during this very short meeting!

New Member Nominations

The AGM is the only occasion throughout the year when new members can be confirmed into the Club. Please note that nominations for membership must be forwarded to the President or Secretary before the day of the meeting. Memberships propsed on the day itself will not be considered at the meeting. Before proposing new members, please read about eligibility on this page. All proposals must be accompanied by:

  • Your reasons for proposing the individual
  • A short summary of their mountaineering background

Nominations for membership will also require seconding, and this can usually be arranged on the day of the meeting.

Tickets & Payment

Tickets must be reserved in advance, by one of two means:

2) Email the Secretary, and send payment by cheque.
