_A PLEA FOR YOUR HELP... The Oxford Mountaineering Archives
Members may remember a recent campaign to raise money in order to properly archive the OUMC and OAC records so that they can be safely stored for future generations. Thankfully sufficient funds have been forthcoming, and work is currently ongoing by the OUMC librarian in order to ensure these archives are maintained in Oxford.

About the Oxford Alpine Club

_The Oxford Alpine Club is the mountaineering club for alumni of the University of Oxford. Formed in 1876 by "members of the Alpine Club who shared an interest in Alpine pursuits" the OAC was the fore-runner of the Oxford University Mountaineering Club, who since 1909 have provided staff and students of the University with an active club for climbing and mountaineering. Since then, the OAC has continued as a network of friends and ex-OUMC members, sharing a passion for mountaineering and adventure at home and abroad.

Today, whilst the OAC does not aim to provide climbing or mountaineering opportunities, we exist as a means for our alumni to remain part of the unique climbing community that Oxford creates. Climbing partnerships, forged through the youthful adventures of OUMC, remain today as the Oxford Alpine Club, allowing our members keep in contact with old friends and share their passion with like-minded Oxford climbers from not only their own generation, but those before and since.

We also maintain close links with the very-active Oxford University Mountaineering Club who, on graduation, provide the majority of our new membership. These ties are very important to both clubs, and Officers of OUMC are routinely welcomed as guests of the OAC at the popular Annual Dinner.

Our membership now spans every generation from University leavers to pioneer climbers of the 1950s, based around the country and around the world, most of them still active climbers, and many of them still involved with expeditions across the globe.
